In this edition of OK to Make Money Online, let’s concentrate on getting your site indexed by Google. Now, I cannot guarantee you will be indexed, that is solely up to Google, but if you follow the rules, you most likely will be indexed.
Let’s take a look at what rules we have learned so far:
1) A proper Blogger account or domain name has been set up and Blogger, Wordpress or Joomla is your blog software.
2) Make sure your long tail keywords are in your title and first paragraphs.
3) You have an “About” page that includes your long tail keyword and a back link to your site.
4) The Privacy Page is complete or you have revised a copy of mine.
5) Check that your site is verified and contains a Sitemap link in Google.
6) You have posted at least two 300-word articles on your site.
7) Ten tags per article with one keyword included as a tag. Makes no sense.
When using WordPress, you have multiple categories.
9) You have installed your Technorati link and claimed your site.
Make sure you have completed the above tasks. This is important. By being indexed we are telling the world through Google where your new blog is located. Without the index, no one will ever know you have a blog.
We set up your Adsense account in our previous article, “Make Money – Adsense,” so log in to the account we created. Start by selecting the “Resources” tab near the top. On this page, select the “Webmaster guidelines” under the Reference heading. You will now be taken to the “Webmasters/Site owners Help” page, under the heading “When your site is ready,” you will see a hyperlink to addurl.html. Click the addurl.html hyperlink.
This new page will have a sub-title called “Share your place on the net with us.” In the URL input text field type your blogs URL address. Then add a comment and your keyword. Enter the squiggly name to verify a human entered the text and press the Add URL button.
After entering the squiggly letters correctly, you should see something like “Thank you, Your site URL has been successfully added to our list of URLs to crawl. Please note that we do not add all submitted URLs to our index, and we cannot make any predictions or guarantees about when or if they will appear”
The next edition of OK to Make Money online will be SEO for your blog.
